This kit contains Handu 'Flaming Sideburns' yarn, accompanied by the Empoisonnée pattern.

• The socks are worked toe-up, starting with a crocheted provisional cast-on for a seamless short-row toe OR Judy's Magic Cast On (http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/FEATmagiccaston.html) Use dpn’s if you like.

• The socks feature ‘gusset and flap’ heels. Gusset increases are worked on each side of the instep, the heel is turned with short rows. While working the heel flap, the gusset stitches are decreased away.

• All three sizes feature the same 10-stitch side cable pattern on each side of the socks. The sizes differ in the number of plain knit stitches between these cables: 20, 22 or 24 stitches both on upper foot and foot sole. For larger sizes, add even more plain knit stitches.

• Cuff shaping is established within the leg cable pattern. Should you prefer a more negative cuff ease, decrease one plain stitch between cable panels at regular intervals or change your needle size accordingly.
